Cold Water

There are very few thing that set you along a course.  My first chance to work internationally only came along because the last person couldn't live without hot water.  She stayed in Bosnia one week and returned home.  I arrived but a few weeks later.  Living without hot water was worse than I thought it would be, but it made sense a war was still going and I was and could live without hot water.

This was a long time ago when americans didn't know anything about war or just forgot for some time..  The english truck driver roomate plugged the hot water heater into the wall.  There was plenty of hot water we americans just couldn't get the lay of the land.  Their army spent recent history peace keeping in northern ireland.  They honed their skills I can tell you for sure.    Another English truck driver was part of a crew responsible for taking leaders out of protests as a tactic.  He would be surrounded by five large soldiers and when they got close to the speaker the little guy grabbed the speaker and they just had to make their way through a rioting crowd.  This was the guys job and now driving trucks in Bosnia wasn't so bad with plenty of hot water.

Living two or three week without hot water is one of my very few things set me along this path.  War is a very real place quite large until it is small and perceptions is on the living's side.

How young and naive were our soldiers in Bosnia. People stopped fighting because they were worried and believed that americans would bring such a light that could not be hidden from.  In 1995, there was still an expectation that we kept a honest score.  Our soldiers are still young, but experienced beyond their years.  It was all new and now it is all old.  We fight three wars; how many of our valiant misused warriors walk these streets and find no hot water today?  Cold waters this world flows and we seek easier answers.

Speed of Sound

The thing about being bombed by NATO is not if you are right or wrong.  It is how you live.  They fly by and break the sound barrier just to throw you off your game.  Your picking strawberries and they drive by and break the sound barrier.
